Vega Student Receives Scholarship

Reese Morris Receives TAF&E Scholarship

AMARILLO, TX-June 11, 2012. Reese Morris of Vega is one of ten scholarship recipients chosen by the Texas Association of Fairs & Events (TAF&E). Morris will receive the $2,000 scholarship to further his education at Texas Tech University in Lubbock majoring in Agricultural Education.

 Morris was active on the Tri-State Fair & Rodeo’s Junior Board of Directors in 2010 and 2011. Morris assisted with daily operations of the fair both years. He has also competed in the Ag Mechanics division at the fair since 2008. Additionally, Morris competes at the San Antonio Livestock Exposition and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in the Ag Mechanics division.

 “The fair was honored to forward Reese’s scholarship application on to TAF&E for consideration of their scholarships, said Virgil Bartlett, General Manager of the Tri-State Fair & Rodeo. “We appreciate the hard work Reese put forth by serving on the junior board and by actively exhibiting at the fair in the Ag Mechanics show.”

 Outside of FFA Morris is active in basketball, football and tennis. Morris volunteers with Meals on Wheels and the Kiwanis Club in addition to his church.

 Morris is the son of Roger and Mary Ann Morris of Vega.

 TAF&E is a non-profit trade association of Texas fair and festival professional, volunteers and suppliers that began in 1926.
