If you are a senior adult, a caregiver of the elderly or a family member caring for an aging loved one then the place for you to be is at the 2009 Texas Ford Dealers Tri-State Fair & Rodeo on Monday, September 21, 2009.

“Senior Citizen’s Day at the fair is sponsored by the Potter County Texas AgriLife Extension Service, Tri-State Exposition Board and the Panhandle area Health Education Center,” said Sue Church, Extension Family and Consumer Service Agent in Potter County.

“Our area seniors look forward to this day at the fair each year. We offer many free screenings that they need done on a regular basis.”

Free gate admission is offered from 8am to 6pm on Monday, September 21, 2009. A special program will be held from 9am to noon in the Amarillo National Center, where there will be a health fair, entertainment, refreshments and door prizes (cash prize for oldest male and female plus door prizes from exhibitors).

Andy Crocker, Gerontology Health Specialist with the Texas AgriLife Extension Service will serve as the Master of Ceremonies.

The free health screening and educational exhibits will include glucose, cholesterol, oxygen saturations, blood pressure, glaucoma, memory, depression and hearing.
