Singing Competition Tonight…
Amarillo, TX, August 17, 2009 – The Amarillo Star contest will take flight tonight at the Big Texan Steak Ranch. Contestants from the Tri-State area will perform tonight, in one of two preliminary rounds, with hopes of making the semi-final round on August 30. The top three contestants will move forward from the semi-final competition onto the final round, September 12, at the 2009 Tri-State Fair and Rodeo Gala featuring Billy Currington.
The Texas Ford Dealers Tri-State Fair and Rodeo Gala is a fundraising event for Panhandle scholarships. The scholarships are awarded to outstanding youth in the local area.
“Amarillo Star” is an amateur vocal competition sponsored by the area’s largest annual event, the Texas Ford Dealers Tri-State Fair & Rodeo. The “Amarillo Star” will win a $1,000 grand prize, and have the once-in-a-lifetime chance to open for country music sensation Billy Currington.
“This competition is exciting, because it gives our local community the chance to highlight their talents. It will be an eventful night for everyone involved, including the spectators,” said Angela Ragland, Marketing Director.
The “Amarillo Star” competition joined Channel 10 News in their Summer Celebration Tour. The Tour visited five different cities in the Tri-State area to get the communities excited about summer, and to gain community involvement in local activities. Joining forces with Channel 10 assisted in generating contestants and publicity for the “Amarillo Star” contest.
The Texas Ford Dealer’s Tri-State Fair & Rodeo will be September 18-26. For more information visit the Web site at www.tristatefair.com or contact the Tri-State Exposition at (806) 376-7767.
