Amarillo Tri-State Exposition Scholarship Program
The Amarillo Tri-State Exposition volunteer Board of Directors created a scholarship program for the youth of the Texas Panhandle in the spring of 2004. The endowment fund is being administered by the Opportunity Plan, Inc, a scholarship administration group located in Canyon, Texas. The main criteria for the scholarship are the financial need of the student, academic achievement, community service and leadership performance. The scholarship recipient must have graduated from a high school in the Panhandle’s 26 county region and be enrolled in a community college or university. The Board of Directors has encouraged ways to grow the endowment including special scholarship fund raising activities and a matching grant program. Patrons at the annual Tri-State Fair contribute by turning in their unused coupons at designated containers located near the exit gates. The money from the unredeemed coupons is then moved into the scholarship fund. The goal is to increase the endowment, so that more youth will benefit from the annual Tri-State Fair & Rodeo.
