PRCA Places Tri-State Fair & Rodeo in Top 5 Position
LAS VEGAS, NV – The 2009 PRCA Convention came to a close prior to the start of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo with a banquet honoring the PRCA’s best for the past year. The Tri-State Fair & Rodeo was notified last fall that they had been nominated in the “Medium Size Rodeo of the Year” category.
“We made the Top 5,” according to Johnny Johnson, Chairman of the Tri-State Fair Rodeo. “We got beat by Deadwood, S.D. but we are going to give them a run for their money in 2010. There were 119 other rodeos in our category,” said Johnson.
PRCA contestants, participating contract personnel and dues paying rodeo committees were those that received ballots. The Tri-State Fair & Rodeo competed in the medium-size market which is determined by total added money. Abilene; Ogden, Utah; Phillipsburg, Kan. and Deadwood, S.D. round out the top 5 medium-size rodeos on the ballot.
“This was quite an honor for us to be nominated in this category,” said Virgil Bartlett, general manager of the Tri-State Exposition. “We were selected by the top contestants and contract personnel in the PRCA. Added monies from our sponsorships as well as the upgrades to our facilities here at the Expo grounds have helped to make this a hospitable place for cowboys and cowgirls throughout the country to compete.”
