The Amarillo Tri-State Exposition has always been a giving group but with a faltering economy 2009 has brought on a little more generosity. To help area families have a meal on their table Christmas day the Exposition has donated a total of 20 turkey dinners to area elementary children and their families.
“Concern for Amarillo citizens’ being hungry on Christmas day is something we just couldn’t stand” said Virgil Bartlett, General Manager of the Tri-State Exposition. “No one should go hungry any day or anytime of the year, especially at Christmas.”
Four elementary schools Hamlet, Forest Hill, Humphrey’s Highland and Rogers all located in close proximity to the Tri-State Exposition grounds were targeted. Five children from each of those four schools will have a wholesome meal on Christmas day thanks to the generosity of the Tri-State Exposition.
